I am having a fall wedding. I want to use fresh daisies. Are Gerbera Daisies still in season at that time?

I wanted to have a wedding in the fall of 08. I wanted to use Gerbera daisies as my main flower. I live in the northeast and am not sure if they are still in season at that time.. If they are not can some one suggest a flower that looks similiar to it that would be just as good to use? The color I want to use for my bridesmaids is a chocolate/mocha brown. I need a flower that comes in colors that could be used as accents against this?

Gerbera is a perennial favorite with florists and come in many colors, so not to worry, they are available in the fall. Best of luck!
Reply:Gerbera daisies are always available through a florist. What a great choice. They come in beautiful colors.
Reply:I worked for a florist for 2 years, YES they are available ALL the time! I love Gerbera Daisies, basically they are my fave flower! I had them in my bridesmaids bouquets with roses and greenery. I would think do orange, red, and yellow, but make sure to specify bolder colored ones, because their is a very big variety in shade with gerberas. you can also get spider gerbs that are soooo cool, they look the same except they have like a ton of skinny petals instead of not as many bigger petals, it would be neat to maybe do red and orange normal ones, and then the spider gerberas in yellow to add some more texture. Do keep the bouquets in water as long as possible because gerbs can be a little tempermental and don't like to be out for long extended periods of time, althought the average wedding will be fine. I dont advice having a bouquet where the stems are completely wrapped, make sure you have an inch or 2 of the stems at the bottom showing so you can put them in a vase or something in between pics! Hope it helps!
Reply:Fall is the prime time for Gerbera daisies. Congrats and good luck!!
Reply:I live in NY and was married in October, yes, Gerbera daisies are available at that time.
Reply:What month are you getting married? I am getting married in July of this year, They are still in season in August, but I think they go out in Sept. You want to make sure to ask a florist in your area, due to coldness and stuff. They will let you know what is in season (You can also buy them from somewhere else around the world) but it GETS VERY PRICEY!!!!!
Reply:Gerbera Daisies are effectively available anytime of year. If a florist needs to, they will ship them in, overnight, from places like California, Colorado or Florida. Fall arrangements that include Gerberas also might include Urn with branches, calla lilies, and roses.

They are not a daisy that is peculiar to the Northeast US...the Shasta daisy is. These are the wild daisies that you see up in these here parts. (lol) BUT, if you were to choose a flower that was grown here in the Northeast, the daisy usually is a late June into July and August flower. (THIS IS NATURAL--there are local florists that grow various flowers in hot houses into the cooler months). ...but, Shastas just like Gerberas are grown elsewhere and are used almost year round...talk to your florist.

There have been many fall weddings that use the Gerbera Daisies and I think they are BEAUTIFUL! They are one of my favorites too!:-)
