Are gerbera daisies too daytime-y for an evening wedding?

Also, can gerberas be dyed to a different color?

Are gerbera daisies too daytime-y for an evening wedding?
Yes it is. Go for roses or lilies instead
Reply:I love gerbera daisies. It is true they can wilt if they are not kept cool, but a good florist will have wire to keep them up. Also, if they are quite fresh (which is another mistake people make), they can last quite a long time. I recently had a vase of gerberas that lasted over a week with daily fresh water changes. I think daisies in particular look good dyed, but I love the "natural" colors gerberas come in anyway. I think gerberas are quite fine for a night wedding. Choose a more elegant greeenery such as bear grass and/or some filler with metallic sprinkles and it will still look elegant.
Reply:Absolutley not! I am not sure about dying them, check with a florist. But, as far as having the dasies at night, the flowers match with the theme or season of the wedding, not time of day. I would say do it, what are the colors of your wedding?
Reply:Any flowers are fine any time of the day. The gerberas would be lovely for a wedding. Don't know if they can be dyed, but ask your florist what colours she can get them in.
Reply:I'd say yes
Reply:be careful with gerber's they wilt very fast. i would suggest you use a different flower.
Reply:Yes and yes.
Reply:Not for evening.

What about calla lilies, orchids, hydrangeas???
Reply:Yes, I think gerberas are more for a casual wedding....but if you like them go with it! I'm not sure about dying them, but they do come in lots of colors. BE CAREFUL, though, they wilt very fast. I was at a wedding 2 weeks ago and they had gerberas for the boutonnieres and they did not hold up. Usually I don't notice those things (boutonnieres), but I did this time because they were wilting!
Reply:my sister-in-law had purple gerbera daisies in her bouquet and it was an evening wedding and looked beautiful. She went for a wildflower type theme for the bouquets and I think they turned out perfect. Also gerbera daisies come in a lot of different colors so you shouldn't have to dye them, but if you need to then a day or two before the wedding place white (they work the best) gerbera daisies in a vase of food colored water and let them sit there untilt the day of the wedding. On your wedding day the flowers will be the color you want. This works well for all flowers but especially daisies and carnations. Best of luck.
Reply:you have to keep gerbera cool until the last minute because they wilt quickly. they can be dyed but be careful with your dress cuz sometimes the colors run. this happened to my crazy friend that wanted blue roses for her wedding..then she had a huge blue stain in the front of her dress!!! i think they are more for a day time wedding but given the right color you can pull it off. Its YOUR wedding do what makes you happy. congrats!
Reply:I think that gerbena daisies are really to informal for an evening wedding. They are a pretty flower, but just to informal. I would go with roses and other types of dramatic flowers for your wedding. Check out macys.weddingchannel.com. You will see lots of bouquets for a formal wedding. Also theknot.com is good too for that.
Reply:NO and YES. I had gerbers in my bouquet and dyed them in jewel tones for a more elegant candlelit wedding!
