Tips for caring for gerbera daisies?

I've tried watering them a lot, watering them a little, putting them outside, and keeping them indoors next to a window. No matter what I do, they always die within about 2-3 weeks. Is it normal for them to die so soon? How can I get them to last longer?

Tips for caring for gerbera daisies?
Gerbera daisies need warm temperatures and full sun to partial shade. They also need to be planted in loose, well-aerated soil - if the soil is too dense, they won't grow well or could die. They should be watered when the soil feels dry - don't overwater them, but make sure you check the soil often so you don't leave it without water. Good luck!
Reply:To me it does sound like your watering them too much. I have a red one here %26amp; I leave it outside in the ground %26amp; it returns every year.
Reply:It would help to know what area you are in. I have no problem planting them outside in the Cincinnati area, and they thrive in soil that is fertile. Lots of organic matter in the soil helps almost any plant. They also do not need a lot of water.
Reply:dont feel bad. that is why they are meant to b an annual. they are nearly impossibly to take care of.....even when planted in the yard. so although it sucks. dont think ur the only one out there.
Reply:In Arkansas they thrive outdoors in an area where they get full sun. They also are perennial here.
